How do I contact pet owners using the mobile app?

Open communication is the key to any great relationship, which is why we’ve made it easy to keep in touch with pet owners using the Rover mobile app.

 

Messaging in the App

Once you’re in contact with a pet owner, typically after they’ve contacted you, you can continue messaging with them in the Rover app. Here’s how:

  1. Tap Inbox at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap Pending for unbooked stays or walks, or Upcoming for booked stays that are upcoming or in progress.
  3. Tap the mailbox icon at the top left of your screen to see your Past stays or Archived requests (iOS only, for Android you'll be able to see all requests in the inbox section of the menu).
  4. Tap the conversation you’d like to continue. You can write a message and attach photos or videos, then tap send.

 

Viewing Care Instructions in the App

Once a service is booked, you’ll be able to see the pet’s care instructions and vet info. Here’s how:

  1. Tap Inbox at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Tap Upcoming to view booked stays that are upcoming or in progress.
  3. Tap desired conversation.
  4. Tap Details.
  5. Beneath Pet Details, select View Care Info.

 

Rebooking With a Pet Owner

Want to book with a pet owner you've already worked with? You can easily initiate a new booking and send it to the pet owner right from your Rover app. Here’s how:

  1. Tap Rebook at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Locate the pet owner you’d like to book with and tap Rebook.
  3. Tap the service you want to rebook.
  4. Edit the details, which will include the service dates, times, and which pets you’ll be watching.
  5. Add a message, then tap Send Request.
  6. If you’re ready to book, tap Book It!

 

During a Walk, Drop-in, or Doggie Day Care Service

You can directly call the pet’s owner if anything comes up while tracking a walk, drop-in visit, or doggie day care stay in the app. This is typically reserved for emergencies (i.e., “is it okay that Spot ate that?”), but it all depends on your relationship with the pet owner.

Here’s how to get in touch while tracking a service:

  1. On the Home tab, you'll be able to see all of today's bookings.
  2. Tap the booking you’re tracking.
  3. Tap Call Pet Owner.

 

Within the tracking feature, there’s also a direct line to Rover’s Trust & Safety team. They’re your go-to if an emergency arises, or you’re concerned about the well-being of an animal in your care.

Here’s how to get in touch:

  1. On the Home tab, you'll be able to see all of today's bookings.
  2. Tap the booking you’re tracking.
  3. Scroll down, tap Call Rover.
